Udinese are getting tough with Inter and Manchester United as they are in no mood to unclench their fists and sell Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez.
Reports gathered a head of steam on Monday with claims that both clubs were keen on the 22-year-old after he admitted an interest in a Premier League future on Friday.
"The interest of Inter and Manchester United? It's nice to know that I am valued and I'd like to play at a big club, but another season with Udinese should be good for me because I still lack a final piece for the final leap," Sanchez told La Gazzetta dello Sport last week.
But despite an assist from Sanchez, Udinese sporting director Fabrizio Larini has blocked attempts from Inter and United.
"Inter in January? Nothing true," Larini told Sky Sport Italia.
"Sanchez will remain with us until June. The player is being following by important European clubs. Maybe in June the club's owners will evaluate offers.
"But for now the team has no need to sell and we cannot see an exit."
Rudi Voeller is confident that Bayer Leverkusen will be able to extend the contract of goalkeeper Rene Adler, but has admitted that his club's efforts will be stymied should Manchester Unted lodge a serious offer.
Speaking of Adler's contract, which runs until 2012 and includes a release clause of 20 million, the former Germany international cited Champions League qualification as a pivotal bargaining chip for Leverkusen.
"We will of course try to extend [Adler's contract] - within our means," said Voeller to Kicker. "We know that for Rene, from a sporting perspective, whether we play internationally is important. Of course we want to play in the Champions League, and this is indeed the goal of Rene."
However, the Leverkusen sporting director admitted: "We cannot keep up with Manchester United."
Voeller nonetheless remains unintimidated by reports of interest from United.
"Rene is not the only goalkeeper that [Manchester] have observed. We stand in good conversation with Rene and his advisers."
Indeed, in addition to the 25-year-old Adler, United have been linked with Pepe Reina, Manuel Neuer, David de Gea and Maarten Stekelenburg.
