Fulham boss Martin Jol feels former club Tottenham must keep hold of Chelsea and Manchester United target Luka Modric.
Jol feels his old club must stand firm on the Modric situation if they are to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool for a place in the Champions League again.
"People always say if you sell Carrick or Berbatov, that you are a selling club. In Holland, it is a complement, but in England it is not," said Jol.
"If Spurs can keep Modric, it would be a big difference and give a good start if they want to be champions or in the top four."
Athletic Bilbao midfielder Iker Muniain believes Barcelona would be crazy to let Thiago Alcantara leave.
Muniain says his Spain U21 teammate will become the best player in the world.
Thiago is being linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, but Muniain said: "From the first moment I saw him, I knew he would be a great footballer.
"You do not have to understand much to know that Thiago does magic with the ball.
"What he does is simply different, it's within the reach of very few and without doubt in just a few years we'll be talking about him as the number one."
Gareth Bale plans to slap in a transfer demand if Tottenham sell Luka Modric this summer.
The Sunday Mirror says despite widespread interest at home and abroad, Bale committed himself to Spurs by signing a new deal last season.
But Bale’s attitude will be challenged if the club fail to stand by their statement, following Chelsea’s recent £22million bid, that Modric will not be sold at any price.
After Spurs failed to secure Champions League qualification there was speculation that Bale would go. The 21-year-old PFA Player of the Year insisted he was happy to stay if the other star men were retained and the squad strengthened.

Terry, Lampard - no Chelsea player safe from AVB axe. The Sunday Mirror says Villas-Boas will weigh up wielding the axe and rebuilding Chelsea’s ageing squad. His arrival in west London could signal the end for fans’ favourites Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, and Nicolas Anelka. Even the position of John Terry could come under threat as AVB looks to hit the ground running by ruthlessly tearing the squad apart.

Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-sung is considering a move to Juventus.
The Sunday Express says Manchester United’s failure to tie down the star has alerted the Turin club, along with Spanish sides Sevilla and Atletico Madrid. And Ashley Young’s arrival raises further questions about Park’s long-term future with the champions.
Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici plans a raid for Park, who has been a big hit at United since being snapped up from PSV Eindhoven.
Park has made 117 appearances for United since joining them in 2005 but only last week he revealed his future could lie away from Old Trafford. He said: “I won’t be able to show my best after one or two years.
“I don’t know how long I can stay at Manchester United."

The Sunday Mirror says Newcastle are attempting to hijack Gibson’s proposed £5million move to north-east rivals Sunderland.
The Manchester United midfielder has been given permission to open talks with Sunderland after the Premier League champions accepted a bid last week.
But Newcastle boss Alan Pardew will match Sunderland’s offer in the next 48 hours and attempt to persuade Gibson to snub their arch-rivals.
The 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international accepts he has no future at Old Trafford.

Manchester City have also been in contact with Sneijder's camp since the end of last season.
The Daily Star Sunday says the stumbling block in any move for Sneijder is not Inter Milan’s £35m valuation – it’s the Dutchman’s wage demands.
He is understood to have told both City and United that he wants £200,000 a week – £30,000 more than he currently earns in Italy.
That probably wouldn’t sit comfortably with United’s pay structure – but City would have no problem shelling out that kind of cash.
The Daily Star Sunday says De Jong bigged-up life at Eastlands to Sneijder during last year’s World Cup in South Africa.
And the City star has even been phoning Inter Milan star Sneijder while he has been on holiday to tell him all about life in Manchester.
Man United are currently the favourites to capture Sneijder, even though FA Cup holders City can now offer Champions League football.
