FRIDAY MAR 13
Well, by now you’ll probably know that I’ll be staying with Milan until July, then heading back to play for the Galaxy until the end of the MLS season.

I'm really grateful to the LA Galaxy and AC Milan for making this happen. I want to help Milan to reach the Champions League as a club with its history should be there every season. As for the LA Galaxy, we have to improve on last season and try to make the play-offs then who knows.

One of the reasons for staying at Milan is to give me the chance to play in the 2010 World Cup. I have to do everything I can do to be involved in that. Everyone knows how passionate I am about playing for my country and, if it gives me a better chance, I'll do anything possible to make that happen.

Right now, I’m delighted at how things have turned out and I’ll be giving my all to both Milan and the Galaxy over the coming year.

On the pitch, we secured a good win at the weekend over Atalanta. Inzaghi got a hat-trick and the team performed reasonably well. Obviously, we’re still a way behind Juve and Inter, but if we can turn in results like that every week, we’ve still a chance. Unfortunately, I picked up an ankle injury in training on Tuesday, it's responding well to treatment though and I'm hopeful I can play a part on Sunday.

That’s all for now.

Take care,

MONDAY MAR 30
Hi everyone,

Well, after two great results in the league we could only manage a draw away to Napoli. To be fair, they played really well and have a great coach in Roberto Donadoni, who was previously the Italian national side’s manager. I had a chance myself at the end of the match with a free-kick, but their ‘keeper made a great save, so a draw was probably a fair result. Unfortunately, that means that we’re now 14 points behind Inter. They’re playing really well at the moment and keep winning matches, which is something we need to do in order to keep up with the likes of them and Juventus. A Champions League place is definitely on the cards provided we’re consistent between now and the end of the season.
Right now though I’m with the England squad. We won our first match against Slovakia. It was only a friendly, but I thought we played really well and that will give us confidence going into Wednesday’s qualifier against the Ukraine. For me personally it was an incredibly proud moment to win 109 caps for my country. To set up a goal for the team made it even more special and it’s a day I won’t forget in a hurry.
Moving forward though, we know Wednesday will be a tough game and we’re under no illusions about what we need to do. The Ukraine have some top players, including my AC Milan team-mate Andriy Shevchenko, so we’ll need to be at our best, but I know the squad are determined to keep our 100% qualifying record and, with the fans behind us at Wembley, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t get the right result.
That’s all for now.

WEDNESDAY APR 08
Hi everyone,

Well, it was great to return from England duty and head straight into a win with Milan. It’s important, especially at this time of the season, to have consistency as we try to consolidate a Champions League position for next year. Obviously, I didn’t get to play a part in the match as I was on the bench this time, but it’s a team game and we’ve got some big players in the Milan squad, so the manager will change things around from time to time, both tactically and so that everyone gets a chance to have some game time.
Looking ahead, there are only eight games remaining in Serie A for the season, and we still have to play the likes of Juventus, Fiorentina and Roma, so there’s no chance that we’ll be thinking that the job is done, despite being four points ahead of Genoa.
We’ve Chievo Verona next, who are on a decent run of form. We’re also away, so we’ll need to produce a strong performance to win there and keep up momentum.
Finally, I'd like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter.
That’s all for now.

Take care,

Hi everyone,

Well, as you might already know, I spent Monday in London with Andy Murray and Denise Lewis helping to launch the charity Malaria No More, which I am proud to be part of the Leadership Council for.
We had a really positive day, first at Wembley with Andy and then we met up with Denise and the Prime Minister at Downing Street.
The fight against Malaria is something that I am really passionate about. I saw first-hand last year just how crucial these bed nets are. I went to Sierra Leone with UNICEF and saw families devastated by malaria and other diseases.
There, one in four children die before their fifth birthday.
I visited health clinics and learnt why people die so young. And sadly I saw that it’s mainly from preventable diseases such as malaria. These heartbreaking facts made me back the new charity Malaria No More UK.
The fact is malaria is the biggest killer of children in the world, with a child dying every 30 seconds and there are around 250million cases of malaria worldwide. But what most people don’t realise is that malaria is preventable. These kids can be saved.
Malaria No More UK wants to get bed nets to everyone in Africa who needs one by the end of 2010. It’s an ambitious goal — but it can be achieved if we all get behind it.
I’ll never forget how fragile those children I met in Africa were and to know how fleeting some of their lives could be.
For just £5 you can buy a mosquito net, which will protect a mother and child, or brother and sister, for up to five years. As a dad of three myself I want to do everything possible to help these kids.

Hi everyone,

Well, it was back to Serie A at the weekend for the home match against Palermo. It was another great result at the San Siro for the team and our fourth win in a row. Confidence is high at the moment and we’ve hit a great run of form going in to the last few matches of the season.
We know we’re still seven points behind Inter, but if they continue to drop points and we can keep winning, who knows what might happen? We’ve just got to keep concentrating on our own form and see where it takes us. We’ve overtaken Juve in the last few weeks and we going to do our best to finish as high up the table as possible, starting with next Sunday’s match against Catania.
That’s all for now.

Hi everyone,

Well, it’s getting very close to the end of the season in Serie A and we’re still pushing Inter all the way. We know that they have a seven point lead over us, but if we keep winning as we have and they keep dropping points there’s still a chance. Of course, we can only concentrate on our game and try and finish as high as possible, but whilst there’s still something to aim for we’re definitely going to give it our best shot.
We’ve Juve this weekend, which is a big, big game. Milan have overtaken them in recent weeks, so a win at the San Siro would really help us to hold onto second place in the league. We’ve won our last five matches in a row and confidence is high, so we’re really looking forward to that one.
That's all for now.

Hi everyone,

Well, despite a great run we couldn’t quite catch up with Inter, so they won Serie A and congratulations to them. I thought in recent weeks we had been in good form but we left it too late. On the plus side though, we can qualify automatically for the Champions League this weekend and our aim is to get second spot. There are still two games to go though, so after the loss at the weekend, we’ll need to regain our good form quickly and finish the season on a high.

As you may know I was in London on Monday to help launch England’s bid for the 2018 World Cup finals. It would be an honour for our country to host the World Cup. It would be an amazing experience for any player and, of course, the fans. I know first-hand the passion of our fans and they would provide an incredible atmosphere at every game. There is no bigger support than our fans.

We're renowned for getting excited by big events and I don't think any other country can compete with us for that. Every time I played with the biggest players in the world, like Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo, they all asked what it was like playing in England. I know it would be a huge success so I’m honoured to be backing our bid and we will work hard all the way.

That’s all for now,

Take care,

MONDAY JUN 08
Hi everyone,

Well, the Serie A season is over and although we eventually finished third it was great to end on a high with a win. The most important thing is that the club also qualified for the Champions League, which was the plan when I came here, so I’m delighted with how things worked out. I’ve had an incredible experience with Milan, playing with some equally incredible players, and I have been honoured to wear the Milan shirt over the past six months.
Next up are two World Cup qualifiers, which, if we win, will take us closer to qualification for next year’s World Cup finals in South Arica. Kazakhstan away is a tough match. Andorra, I know it sounds like a cliché, but there are no easy games in football. The goal, of course, is to get maximum points from both games.
After that I’ve four weeks off before I join up once again with the Galaxy for the rest of the MLS season. I’ll still be working to keep fit during that rest period though, as I want to be in perfect condition for the Galaxy when I arrive back mid-July.
That’s all for now.

Take care,

Hi everyone,

Well, I’m back in LA training with the squad ahead of, hopefully, my first game against AC Milan on Sunday. It should be an interesting experience playing against the team I have played with for the last six months, but its good to be back with the Galaxy and I’m really looking forward to playing for them again at the Home Depot Center.
Aside from training, I was honoured to be asked to help launch the MLS’ Footprint Fields Community Programme alongside my friend, Zinedine Zidane. Footprint Fields is a fantastic programme, giving kids the chance to have a safe place to play and it will help them grow into the game.
That’s all for now.

Hi everybody,

Well, it was great to get back on the pitch again and, more importantly, get a win in my first MLS game with the Galaxy team. It’s always good to get three points and also always good to show we can compete against the big teams as we showed against AC Milan. The team spirit within the squad has been good and so have the performances, which is the most important thing.

Obviously the reception I received from a small minority of fans wasn’t as positive as I’d have liked, but the overwhelming response was good and I thank the fans for that. I will continue to do what I always do which is train hard, perform on the pitch and hopefully we can make a serious push for the play offs and Championship.

That’s all for now.

WEDNESDAY JUL 29
Hi everyone,

Well, it was nice to keep the unbeaten run going with our 1-1 draw against the Kansas City Wizards. It was also great for me personally to get another assist. Obviously my job is to get assists, and hopefully chip in with a few goals, but if we’re scoring goals, winning games, and I’m helping the team then I’m happy.
We’re only four points off top spot in the Western Conference and we’ve gone six games unbeaten now, which gives the team the confidence to keep winning. We’ve got Barcelona next in a friendly at the Home Depot Center and that will give us another chance to test ourselves against one of Europe’s great teams. I hear that 70,000 tickets have been sold for the Barca match, which shows the great support the Galaxy fans give the team - we'll try and give the fans a game to remember.
After that it’s back to the MLS and an away game to New England Revolution. Games are coming thick and fast at the moment, but I wouldn’t want it any other way.
That’s all for now.

Take care,

Hi everybody,

Well, a draw was just about the right result on Saturday. To be honest, the conditions were tough, it had rained heavily all day and it was incredibly humid by the time we got out on the pitch – not the ideal situation – but both teams had a real go and in the end neither of us managed a goal, so a draw was fair. Despite the weather, the fans still made the effort to come down and watch the game and that’s always really appreciated by the players.
For the Galaxy that’s two games unbeaten now, so it’ll be nice to get another run going, especially coming into the final games of the season. We’re still up there challenging for a playoff spot, we’ve just got to make sure we keep doing it on the pitch, starting with the SuperClasico on Saturday against Chivas. That’s always a massive game and a win against our local rivals should stand us in good stead for the run in.
That’s all for now.

Hi everybody,

Well, we completed the SuperClasico with a win, which is a great feeling as we not only won the local derby against Chivas USA, but the victory also keeps us right up there in the hunt for a playoff place. We slipped up a few weeks ago against the Seattle Sounders, but the great thing about the team at the moment is that we can put results like that behind us quickly and get back to winning ways in the following game, which stands us in great stead in the run in.
Saturday’s match was also good for me personally as I scored my first MLS goal of the season. It’s always great to score, of course, but to get a winning goal in such an important game was a fantastic feeling.
I'm with the England squad now for the games against Slovenia and Croatia. The first one is a friendly match on Saturday, but if we win our World Cup qualifying match against Croatia at Wembley next Wednesday, we'll qualify for next year's World Cup in South Africa, so we've a very important match coming up.
That’s all for now.

Hi everyone,

Well, we’ve qualified for the playoffs, which is a great feeling. We’re also top of the Western Conference and we want to stay there for the remainder of the season. We’ve got Houston Dynamo on Sunday and they’re second, so a good result is very important if we want to finish top. Of course, once the regular season is over we’ve still got some way to go if we want to win the MLS Cup. It’s the first time I’ve made it to the playoffs since I’ve been with the Galaxy and I’m excited about the prospect of winning something with the team. We’ll need to beat the other top teams in the MLS though so it won’t be easy, but we’ll definitely be giving it our best shot.
I’m away with England at the moment, training ahead of our next World Cup qualifying games. Although we've already qualified for next year's World Cup we'll still be taking these matches very seriously as we want to keep up the winning mentality and finish the group strongly.
That's all for now.

WEDNESDAY NOV 04
Hi Everyone,

I was pleased with our result against Chivas, they are a good team and we showed resolve to come back from one down and then get a draw. This is an important week and we are all determined as a team to go through to the next round.

As you may have heard, I will be returning to AC Milan for a short-term loan move in January. I need to give myself the best chance to make the World Cup squad and playing for Milan will help me. I’m looking forward to seeing the players & staff again. I want everyone to know, I'm committed to LA Galaxy and MLS in the long term and remain as passionate as ever about growing the game of soccer in America.

In the meantime, I’m completely focused on winning a trophy with the Galaxy. I’d like to thank all of you for your continued support.

That’s all for now.

FRIDAY NOV 13
Hi Everyone,

It was another tough but great win for us against Chivas, our most important game of the season so far. It wasn't the greatest of games but we were professional and did what we needed to do to win.

Today sees us play in the Western Conference Final against the Houston Dynamo, so another tough match ahead. We'll need to be at our best to win that and qualify for the MLS Cup Final, but we're confident and playing well as a team.

As I'm with the Galaxy, unfortunately I will miss the England friendly against Brazil in Doho on Saturday. While I'm disappointed not to be playing, I'll be cheering the lads on from the States.

FRIDAY DEC 04
Hi everyone

I thought I’d give you a quick update from my South African trip.

I arrived in Cape Town on Wednesday, along with the England 2018 bid team, and we’ve been in several positive meetings with Sepp Blatter and several of the FIFA Executive Committee members. We all share a love of the game and it was a pleasure to get know them better.

Yesterday we visited a Coaching For Hope football clinic in Khayelithsa with ex-Premier League football Lucas Radebe. I then went on to see for myself a centre for HIV mothers and their babies nearby. I'm amazed by the spirit and strength of the women and children that I met. They are incredible people and I was honoured to be in their company.

This morning we had a few more 2018 meetings, then the launch of the World Cup Ball for Adidas. After that I’m really excited and proud to be part of the World Cup Draw itself. I'm getting ready now and heading to the live draw soon.

Finally on a personal note I just want to thank you to all the people out there who have passed on messages of condolences and kind thoughts for my family at this difficult time. I'm very thankful for your words and support.

Take care

THURSDAY DEC 17
Hi everyone

I'm back in LA at the moment and it's good to spend some time with the family in the lead up to Christmas.

On the World Cup Draw, overall I was happy with England's group. Although there will be some tough matches, and at altitude, I'm confident we can progress.

We have a fantastic group of players and I will do everything possible to make the squad. I had a feeling we would draw the United States and it will be great to play against Landon.

I start with Milan on the 28th of December and our first game will be against Genoa at the San Siro on the 6th of January - I can't wait to get started.

I'm also looking forward to playing in the Champions League and I'll be looking out for the draw tomorrow. Imagine if the Milan are drawn against Manchester United - what a game that would be!

Have a great Christmas, whatever you're planning, take care

DAVID'S BLOG

Hi everyone

I’d like to start by wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

I had a fantastic time with the family in London over Christmas but then it was straight back to work. We reported back for training on 28 December and spent the next three days doing intensive double training sessions, which were closely monitored by the club doctors.

We were allowed New Year’s Day off but have been back in training since then. Everyone has made me feel really welcome, it’s like I’ve never been away!

There’s been a lot of talk about Manchester United in the Champions League, but we’ve got many big games before then, so my focus is on those and playing well for the team.

Our first game of 2010 is at home to Genoa on Wednesday followed by a trip to Juventus on Sunday - I’m looking forward to it and want to contribute towards the team.

THURSDAY JAN 21
Hi everyone,

What a busy few weeks it's been. We've played three league games and a cup match in just over two weeks, winning all four which is great and keeps us in the hunt for the trophies.

We are now just six points behind Inter in the league but we have a game in hand, which makes our next match all the more special, we're playing Inter on Sunday evening! We've been training hard this week and the mood in the camp is really good, so it's a game I'm really looking forward to- undoubtedly one of the great derby matches in world football.

Off the pitch things have been busy as well. This week I unveiled my new adidas Originals collection with James Bond. The reception was positive which is pleasing considering the hard work we put in

The new adidas Star Wars teaser also broke this week, you can see the advert on my website or on Facebook. I had great fun filming it and loved watching Star Wars when I was growing up, see if you can recognise some of the famous faces from the advert. There will be more to come soon.

FRIDAY MAR 05
Hi everyone

It was a good victory at Wembley on Wednesday, and despite an early scare we ran out 3-1 winners. Egypt are a very good side, the current African Champions having recently won the 2010 African Cup of Nations. So it was another good win, that keeps the confidence up ahead of the World Cup.

I’m back in Italy now preparing for another big game for Milan this weekend, we’re away to Roma, who are 3 points behind us in the league in third. A win would put some distance between us and keep the pressure on Inter.

Next Wednesday will be another massive game, we travel to Manchester for the second leg of our Champions League tie – I’m looking forward to going back and seeing old friends, although the most important thing is that we win and go through to the next round.

This week also sees the launch of the Jaguar Academy of Sport, of which I’m a patron. The primary aim of the Academy is to recognise and support new British sporting talent, something I feel passionately about and I’m happy to be involved.

Hi everyone

I’m back from my holiday and the whole family had a very relaxing 10 days, it was great to get away.

My rehabilitation is going well and the doctors are pleased with my progress. I can’t wait to get back playing but one of the positives is that I’m able to watch a fair bit of basketball. I have been a regular at LA Lakers matches recently and am really getting into it and looking forward to the Playoffs.

Back to football, Galaxy have started the MLS season really well and I’ve been down to watch the lads, you can’t ask much more than three wins from three. I’m also keeping a close eye on Milan and while they’ve dropped a few points recently, they are still in there with a chance of winning the Italian Championship, fingers crossed.

Have a good weekend.

Hi everyone

It’s been a while since I’ve been in touch. As you know, I’m in the final stages of recovery from my injury and I’ve been training hard and getting myself ready to play over the last few weeks. I think I’m pretty close now, although Saturday might be a bit too soon. I’d just like to thank everyone for their support in what has been a frustrating time.

We’ve got a big match this weekend against Columbus, who are currently top of the Eastern Conference, so it will be a tough one. Having said that, we are top of the Western Conference, so we having nothing to fear.

We’ve got seven matches left in the league and we are all desperate to make it back to the play-offs in November, and go one better than last year.

Not much else to report, all is well with the family and the sun is shining in LA.

Hope you’re all well, take care.

Hi everyone

I’m back in LA after to flying to Trinidad over the weekend with the 2018 World Cup bid team – in just 65 days, FIFA will announce who will host the World Cup.

For me it’s all about the legacy of The Bid, I’ve seen first hand the power that football has globally. A World Cup in England would not only benefit our country, we will help implement projects and improve facilities in all the FIFA projects around the world.

I’m glad that my Academy will visit each FIFA Confederation every year, should we win the right to host the World Cup.

Last Friday saw one of the biggest MLS matches in the calendar, we played the New York Red Bulls. While I was happy I got another 90 minutes under my belt, I was disappointed with the result, we lost 2-0. We had plenty of the ball and several good chances, it just wasn’t our day.

We’ve already qualified for the Play-Off Finals, which is great news, so we have to take the positives from Friday and kick on from there…and hopefully go one better than last year!

Take care

Hi everyone

I’m sure many of you watched England’s EURO 2012 qualifier against Montenegro on Wednesday. We played pretty well, but we didn’t manage to convert any of our chances. I prefer to concentrate on the positives though, we are still unbeaten and we are in a good position at the end of the year. We’ll just need to make sure we’re at our best for the rest of the group games, there’s still plenty of football to be played.

It was great to see Sepp Blatter meeting David Cameron this week at 10 Downing Street ahead of the crucial vote to host the World Cup. I hope he enjoyed his visit, however, there is still plenty of work to be done before decision day on December 2.

Back in LA, we’ve only got two league games left, and we only need to win one of them to take home advantage in the play-off finals. It would also give us the best record in the MLS this season, but the real test begins in the play-offs.

First up this Saturday evening are the Colorado Rapids, keep any eye on my site as we’ll post up some match highlights afterwards.

Take care
